Reiki is an alternative Japanese healing technique that can be used distantly to address many different ailments. "Rei" means "universal energy" while "ki" is similar to Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine and means "life force energy". The energy that the definition for Reiki refers to does not correlate with a religion or a belief system.

A reiki practitioner acts like a conduit much like metal or water. The practitioner conducts the healing energy from our surroundings (air, trees, rocks, that feeling you get when you get to go to the ocean or on a hike in the woods) into the patient to help repair any damage. Everything, even humans, emit electricity and therefore have an electromagnetic field. Many things can influence or disrupt the flow of the electricity (life force energy), and reiki is one way that these disruptions can be repaired.

Reiki is a very safe and natural alternative healing modality. Reiki treats the whole person so even though people may feel relief from their pain or symptoms after a treatment, they may also feel an emotional release and benefit as well. Most people report a sense of relaxation and overall well being.

Meet Dr. Jacqui Kinzig, D.Ac., L.Ac.

Dr. Jacqui is the founder of Sustaining Health Acupuncture and one of the first acupuncturists in Kentucky to earn the title Doctor of Acupuncture. She studied biology and experimental psychology at the University of Kentucky before attending the American Institute of Alternative Medicine in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating Summa Cum laude with her Master’s in Acupuncture, she completed the necessary requirements to become board certified by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She completed her Doctorate of Acupuncture from the prestigious Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 2018 with a focus in pediatrics.

Jacqui believes that both western medicine and acupuncture have their place in society; neither is “better” than the other. Instead, they work best when used together as part of an overall health plan. Her goal is to make acupuncture an easy, sensible part of her patient’s lives. She works hard to tailor treatments to each individual so that all of her patients are comfortable with their level of therapy.
